I think the following quote pulled from the Rivendell site says all you need to know about the Joe Appaloosa:
"I (Grant) used to say this was my favorite bike of all time, but right now it’s tied with a few others--the new Atlantis being the most obvious. I don’t think a better-riding bike is possible. I know I can't design one."
Its got all of the rack mounts, pump pegs, and room for fenders anyone could ever need.
Build Notes:
Each frame comes with a headset (No spacers) and square taper bottom bracket pre-installed and a seat post.
The 46cm Appaloosa takes a 26" wheel set.
The 51cm Appaloosa takes a 650b/27.5" wheel set.
The 54, 57, and 60cm Appaloosas all take 700c/29" wheels.
Max tire clearance is 2.1" no matter the wheel size.
Best built with V-Brakes, but cantis will work just fine.
The Appaloosa is paired nicely with some sort of swept back or mustache bar, but can be set up with a drop bar and a 50-60mm stem.
Minimum PBH's (with 2" tire):
76cm
51cm (650b)
81cm
54cm (700c)
84cm
91cm
