Shipping

Our Shipping FAQ and Policies

Most places, yes. The exceptions move around, so checkout is the authority — put your address in, and if a shipping rate comes up we can ship to you. If no rate appears, we can't ship that item there. It isn't a glitch and emailing us won't unlock it.

Three standing exceptions worth knowing before you fill a cart:

  • Spain — we don't ship there. Too many addresses that never resolved and too many parcels that never arrived.
  • Australia and New Zealand — order from Heaps Good Garage instead. Same gear, already in the country, no transpacific freight and no customs surprise.
  • Japan and most of Asia — order from Crumb Works or Blue Lug.

The Shipping Policy has the full picture.

We ship with USPS, UPS and DHL. You'll get a tracking email as soon as your order goes out.

Give us 3–5 business days to pack and label an in-stock order before it ships. Preorders and made-to-order items are different — those show their expected ship date on the product page, and we'll email you before that date passes if we aren't going to make it.

If no tracking turned up, email shipping@crustbikes.com and we'll find it.

If a package is stuck or lost in the USPS system we genuinely can't track it from our end — your local post office can see things we can't. What we can and can't do about lost, stuck and stolen packages is set out in the Shipping Policy.

Tell us anyway. Nine times out of ten it's with a neighbour, behind a gate, or the driver scanned it a stop early, and we're happy to help you work out which.

What we can't do is send a replacement or refund an order the carrier has recorded as delivered. Filing a claim with the carrier is the route to getting your money back, and we'll support that however we can — see the Shipping Policy.

Email us immediately at info@crustbikes.com. If we catch it before your order ships, we'll fix it for free.

If it's already gone, we have to wait for the package to come back to us before we can do anything, and you'll be invoiced for the reshipping. The carrier has already been paid for the first trip and doesn't give that back. The Shipping Policy explains this in full.

Bicycle frames ship to the EU and UK at a flat rate of $180. Prices on this site are in US dollars; your bank converts at checkout.

Duties, VAT and import charges aren't included — those are set by your country and collected on delivery.

If you're an EU or UK consumer you also have a 14-day right to cancel that applies regardless of the final-sale rules below. It's described in the Refund Policy.

UPS is what we offer to most of the world. We can help you chase a UPS parcel, and they insure up to US $100.

USPS is cheaper and that's the whole of its appeal. Once it leaves the country we can't track it and there's no insurance if it arrives damaged. If your package matters to you, pay for the better service.

We are not responsible for customs fees. Duties, import taxes and brokerage are yours, they're collected by the carrier on delivery, and we can't tell you in advance what they'll be — your national customs office can. We also can't mark a shipment as a gift or under-declare its value. Please don't ask.

Orders shipped outside the USA, EU and UK are final sale. See the Refund Policy.

We'd rather you didn't. If we can't ship to your country directly there's usually a reason, and using a forwarder to get around it may get your order cancelled.

Be aware too that using a Crust outside the country it was bought in can void your warranty, and that we can't help with a package once a forwarder has signed for it.

Returns and exchanges

Our Returns and Exchange Policies

Short version: unused, un-installed gear can come back to us within 15 days of the day you received it, in its original packaging. If it's been assembled or fitted to a bike, it's yours — we can't sell it as new, so we can't take it back.

There's no restocking fee. We refund what you paid for the goods; shipping isn't refunded once we've bought the label.

Some things are final sale — see below. Everything else, including how EU and UK cancellation rights work, is in the Refund Policy, which is the binding version.

Email info@crustbikes.com with your order number and what you're sending back. Allow 3–4 business days for us to review and authorize it. Please don't ship anything back before it's authorized.

Once it's approved, pack the item in its original packaging along with the packing slip and a note saying what it is, and send it to:

Crust Bikes, c/o Returns
3416 Hull St.
Richmond, VA 23224

Send us the tracking number when you have it. You're responsible for the return shipping and for the package until it reaches us, so use a carrier that gives you tracking and insurance.

Full terms in the Refund Policy.

We do exchanges, on the same 15-day window and the same condition rules as a return — brand new, original packaging, never assembled or installed.

Email info@crustbikes.com first so we can approve it, then send the item to the Returns address above with a note saying it's an exchange, not a return. You cover shipping back to us; we'll get the replacement out to you.

Final sale items can't be exchanged. Details in the Refund Policy.

We warrant our frames against manufacturers' defects for 2 years from the date of purchase, unless the product page says otherwise. Other products are covered against manufacturers' faults.

The warranty covers defects in manufacturing. It doesn't cover crash damage, wear, modification, or deciding to find out what a thin-wall steel frame does off a loading dock. A certain amount of common sense is assumed.

To make a claim, use the warranty form — it asks for photos, which is what lets us assess a claim without a week of email.

Registering your frame when you get it makes this much easier later; see the registration section at the bottom of this page.

These can't be returned or exchanged:

  • Frames and framesets
  • Listed complete builds
  • Custom builds
  • Cargo forks
  • Wheelsets
  • Gift cards
  • Anything bought at a promotional or sale price
  • Orders shipped outside the USA, EU and UK

Most of these are made in small runs, cost a fortune to ship both ways, and can't be resold as new once they've been out in the world. Measure twice, and if you're at all unsure about fit or sizing, email us before you order. We would much rather spend twenty minutes answering questions than have you end up with the wrong frame.

Preorders are not final sale — see the next question.

This does not affect your rights if something arrives damaged or defective, and it doesn't override EU and UK cancellation rights. The Refund Policy is the binding version of this list; if the two ever disagree, the policy wins.

Preorder and made-to-order items show their expected ship date on the product page. That date is the commitment, not the 3–5 business days that applies to in-stock orders.

If we work out we're not going to hit it, we'll email you before the date passes and you choose: wait for the new date, or cancel for a full refund. No argument, no fee.

Preorders are not final sale while you're waiting. Once the item has shipped, the normal rules apply — so if what you preordered was a frame, it's final sale from that point. The Refund Policy has the detail.

Once your return arrives and we've checked its condition, we'll refund the purchase price to the payment method used on the original order. Allow 5–10 business days for it to appear, depending on your bank.

We'll email you when it's processed so you know it's on the way. We can't be responsible for currency exchange rates moving between your purchase and your refund.

No to both, sorry. We're a small operation and we don't have the back-office to track credit balances or deposits properly — and doing it badly with your money is worse than not doing it.

Refunds go back to the payment method you used.

Sorry, no — gift cards are final sale. Thanks for asking though.
