Sweet Penny

Allow me to introduce my Cantibolt in my favorite of its iterations: light-touring mode. I built this bike up in the summer of 2023 with all-roads and lots of climbing in mind. The more-humble components have proven reliable and their cost-effectiveness have allowed me to really play around with accessories and how this bike best wants to be ridden and loaded up. I’ve gone full-on rando with fenders, 42mm slicks, and a traditional handlebar bag and decaleur, but I’ve mostly enjoyed it with the Fabio’s Fanny up front with wide knobby tires so that I can confidently mix gravel and single track in with my usual road riding. I recently decided to set it up as a light-tourer and have been pleasantly surprised by the way it handles loaded with 25-30lb worth of camping gear. Next month I’ll be doing a slow, boozy, and cruisey tour from Santa Barbara to San Diego!
