The Crust Rim Brake rims were designed by Matt with 42-48mm tires in mind. They are double wall for durability, but slimmed down where they can be to keep them as light as possible. I am not aware of a lighter weight rim in this width that is rim brake compatible. That all being said, this rim can withstand some gravel/randonneur style riding, but may not be the best choice for your mountain bike you plan on sending down the side of a cliff like you're Randy McKaksil. These rims are tubeless compatible for all of you looking to get the purest ride out of your high thread count rubbers.
Sold per rim. If you want two, add two to your cart.
Spoke Tension:
These rims are very light weight and if you try to run the tension up super high with some sort of plan to have a wheel set that feels like you're rolling on a set of dull saw blades, they may not be for you. If that is the case, maybe look into some carbon tri spokes. If you have a Park Tool Tension Meter, the ideal reading when using a 2.0/1.8/2.0 stainless spoke will be somewhere between 15 and 20, anything past 20 I wouldn't recommend. If you go by feel, well...you should know then.
