Disc or Rim Brake?
Only 18 items in stock!

The Stupid Tourist is our touring mini velo featuring the Ritchey Breakaway System. This little (but actually kinda big) puppy with it's smaller wheels, will make for an easy bike to pack down and fly around the world with. It's available in a rim or disc brake version, each with plenty of tire clearance, so you can run some meatier tires if you want to take on some rough stuff when you get where you're going. Both frames are designed to have a biiiiiggg ol' front triangle in order to maximize frame bag space. Plus, aesthetically, I reckon it looks pretty sick! If none of that matters to you, it's got a big ass head tube, perfect for compensating with.

If you need a wheelset here you go!

Loose Sizing Guide:

Small- ~5'7"-ish and Under

Large- ~5' 8"-ish and Up

Build Notes:

This bike may take a BMX tire, but it is not a BMX bike. Keep that in mind when you're eyeing up that 4 stair on your way to work that may not be a big deal, but could be a big deal. This bike is designed to split in half after all.

The Large's head tube is so long, the Park Tool HHP-2 Headset Press will not work with it. You will have to use a hammer and a block of wood. Seriously. If you want some help with it, order a headset from us and ask to have it pressed in, in the notes section of your order. We're a couple of old BMX'ers here at the shop, we know our way around a claw hammer and a 2x4.

Max recommended tire size for each is 20x2.6"

Rim Brake version is compatible with canti or v-brakes.

The Rim Brake version features additional bolt bosses on the top of the down tube and bottom of the top tube, incase you want to have a bolt on frame bag made.

The Disc version is I.S. mount. Best set up with up to a 160mm rotor front and rear.

Front and rear thru axles are included with the Disc model.

The Disc version is single speed compatible thanks to its rear rocker dropouts.

The Disc version has a split seatstay, so it is belt drive compatible.

Odds are you might need a 350 to 400mm Seat Post. You can always trim some off, but can't add any to one thats too short. This means, do not order the Simple Post from us for it, unless you're totally sure it will work for you. You can check the seat tube center to top in the geo charts, and subtract that from your center of crank to center of seat rail measurement to get a rough idea of how much post will be showing.

Has internal dropper routing if you want a seat that goes up and down.
