The Hold Your Horses (HYH) Grip is a riff on some old unbranded grips that came on an 80's Peugeot Mountain Bike I've had for years. I LOVED those things and rode them for years until one of them finally started blowing apart, so I took them off and started talking to Matt about getting some made. The HYH grip's ergonomic shape is super comfortable no matter if you're riding 200 miles or 2. It's not a lock on, but its a thick rubber and a tight fit, so it grabs the bar and stays in place well. The benefits to it not being a lock on means they don't cost $45, which is cool for everyone, AND you get super cool moto-esque hand guard flanges on either side, which work VERY well. I speak from experience, my pinky fingers love 'em.
Tech Tip: These grips are a snug fit and positioning for pinnacle comfort is a pain to do when you're trying to blow air into them with a compressor. If you spray a little bit of WD-40 into the grip it will make sliding them on and positioning them to your liking a breeze. It will only take about 5 minutes for the WD to dry up and once it does it will stick your grip to the bar and keep it there until you decide otherwise. Spray paint works similarly, but takes longer to dry.
